Value:£45 Million

Location:Cambridge

Project Atria will provide an a ground breaking opportunity to bring R&D closer to patients.

Interaction and development between departments is an essential requirement of the Institute with formal teaching, group learning, breakout and social areas required to create hub space that encourages diverse working and cross pollination of ideas. The educational element will serve Papworth and the Institute and be accessible for training to other Institutes on the BioMedical Campus.

The external materials palette proposes the use of light bronze anodised finished, vertically orientated aluminium cladding panels. These will create varying light patterns on the facades dependent on the location of the viewer and the orientation of the sun.

The use of 300 wide flat panels in a vertical orientation will create the impression of a smooth curve without the associated cost of bespoke curved panel
