Sogaris Automotive Research Centre

Project Type:International

Client:Sogaris

Value:€50 million

Location:Versailles, France

New build automotive research centre to house a number of symbiotic organisations, including an engineering school.

Project undertaken with our affiliated office AFA Architects based in Paris, the initial commission looked to work within the existing master plan for the site, and developed the building massing, and create a design style and elevation treatment, whilst working within a defined budget.

The master plan focussed upon separating heavy traffic away from car traffic using an outer ring road, and in the same manner, the centre of the development was to be treated as a vehicle free landscaped zone with pedestrian access only to parkland and water features.

The building featured front of house exhibition and office space directly linked to shared laboratory space and flexible and adaptive manufacturing halls.

This building is the first of five on this site.

The centre comprises:

  • 30,000m2 office spaces
  • 5,000m2 laboratory spaces
  • 400 underground parking spaces
  • Large manufacturing facility to house specialist sectors

Role and Responsibility

Design Architects in collaboration with our French partner company, who will deliver the project.
