FDG was appointed by ION Group UK to deliver a transformational CAT B refurbishment of its premises on the first floor, 10 Queen Street Place, London. Inspired by the client’s appreciation of simple, refined and understated design with high functionality and quality craftsmanship, the scheme features concrete panelling alongside bespoke joinery pieces, burnished metal finishes and a state-of-the-art AV system. The project saw the creation of a high-end trading floor with expansive views of the River Thames as well as accompanying offices, boardroom, library, reception area, meeting suites and conferencing facilities. The aim of the project was to empower staff and drive performance, so technology and digital environments have been installed to better support ION Group’s London-based staff. In addition, spaces have been designed to be adaptive and promote diversity and inclusion through the civic layout and positioning of the trading floor at the heart of the real estate. ION Group’s commitment to environmental sustainability was translated into the design and delivery processes. As a result a comprehensive technical package ensured the scheme had very little wastage of materials and careful product selection was used to procure low energy fittings to reduce energy consumption in years to come. M2 Atelier provided the concept design while FDG acted as technical architects throughout delivery. “ION requested a world class Client and Executive Suite built to the specified minimalist design that was also fully functional.
The UK and Italian design teams, together with the contractor and ourselves undertook a rigorous and innovative design process collaborating daily for three months to ensure the vision was constructed.
