The Fairhursts Design Group offers a comprehensive service of project control
and administration to those clients who have decided to procure their buildings
by a Design and Build route, when novation of the design team to the contractor precludes them from providing an independent service. Consequently, The Fairhursts Design Group Client's Representative Team provides input from architectural, mechanical, electrical, and structural disciplines and Clerks of Works, (working in close liaison with the Clients own Quantity Surveyor);
all of which are supplied and co-ordinated by FDG.
We have experienced staff performing the principal role of Representative within
a variety of contract arrangements including the British Property Federation contract. The role is structured to suit circumstances and client requirements.
The sections following provide an outline of the breadth of tasks which may be undertaken.
Ascertain the client's requirements including space, intended use, timescale, quality and financial limits. Review the planning approval, the detail design information and the building contract tender documentation, report to the client on the appropriateness of the design and specification to fulfil the brief. Provide/appoint a clerk of works, structural and services engineers to assist the client's representative with the monitoring of the workmanship and the materials incorporated into the works.
Administer the contract, monitor and comment on the contractor's design, and the construction and execution of the project. Inform the client where it is apparent that the proposed design/specifications/execution of the works is not
in accordance with the brief or contract documents and issue instructions to the contractor accordingly.
