Project Type:Commercial & Workplace

Client:Bank of East Asia

Value:£2.5 million

Location:Manchester

The refurbishment, repair and conversion of an existing 4 storey 1970s vacant office building on a restricted urban site within Manchester City Centre.

The ground and first floors were modified to create a double storey height banking hall, visible from the street frontage.

The second and third floors were refurbished to create new open plan office accommodation. Additional meeting and function room was created at roof level with a private roof terrace.

The building was stripped back to it’s structural frame and extensively modified to achieve the new layout requiring recladding, internal and external works to the building fabric together with internal subdivision of the building. The works included the design of the plant and service environments together with the interior design including the design and specification of both fixed and loose furniture and feature lighting.

The centre comprises:

  • Converted basement into safe deposit box banking
  • Double storey height banking hall
  • Open plan speculative office accommodation and additional meeting and function room
  • Lift accommodation which serves all levels together with accessible facilities
